.. index:: Wide survey .. _calobs-block-f-wide-survey: **CALBLOCK-F-006:** Wide Survey =============================== .. include:: definitions.rst Observation configuration file ------------------------------ Not applicable Scheduling ---------- Scheduled by EC-SURV. NISP slew darks, VIS biases, darks, flats, CTI, and short science exposures are taken as part of the ROS and processed when suitable. Other ``CalProducts`` are computed / validated / updated on other timescales, or as needed. In case of failure, skipped and / or replanned by EC-SURV depending on severity. Time-critical ------------- No. Dependencies ------------ None. Objective --------- The Euclid Wide Survey provides a range of "inline" calibration products as part of the ROS, e.g. VIS flats, biases, darks, CTI and trap pumping, and short science exposures. Different flavors of the ROS are available, cycling through the biases, darks, flats and CTI-related calibrations. Two short science exposures are always executed per ROS. The short science exposures have scientific value, extend the dynamic range, and can be used to validate the :ref:`VIS nonlinearity ` and :ref:`BFE ` corrections. During field slews, NISP is taking slew darks. The survey data themselves can be used for a wide range of calibration purposes, from updating and validation of calibration products to trend analysis. Observations ------------ Execute the wide survey. **VIS Cycling:** The VIS ROS-inline calibrations follow the nominal wide-survey cycling, as described in :ref:`ros-inline-vis-calibrations-and-cadence`. Fulfilling ---------- **The following** ``CalProducts`` **are obtained by dedicated inline calibrations in the ROS:** :ref:`calobs-nisp-slewdarks` :ref:`calobs-vis-bias` :ref:`calobs-vis-darks` :ref:`calobs-vis-cti-cil` :ref:`calobs-vis-cti-eper` :ref:`calobs-vis-trappumping` :ref:`calobs-vis-prnu` :ref:`calobs-vis-blooming` **The wide survey data can be used to build, validate and trend a large number of** ``CalProducts``. Given sufficient statistical power, some of these models could also be updated: :ref:`calobs-nisp-badpixmap` (continuous update, wrt. persistence) :ref:`calobs-nisp-crosstalk` (validate model) :ref:`calobs-nisp-persistence` (validate model) :ref:`calobs-nisp-phot-absolute-standards` (validate photometry when encountered) :ref:`calobs-nisp-phot-distortion` (changes with filter position) :ref:`calobs-nisp-phot-dichroic-ghostmodel` (validate model) :ref:`calobs-nisp-phot-psfmodel` (validate model, update for respective exposure) :ref:`calobs-nisp-phot-straylight` (validate model) :ref:`calobs-nisp-spec-absolute-standards` (validate photometry when encountered) :ref:`calobs-nisp-spec-distortion` (validate model) :ref:`calobs-nisp-spec-trace` (validate model) :ref:`calobs-nisp-spec-dichroic-ghostmodel` (validate model) :ref:`calobs-nisp-snowballs` (monitor event rate) :ref:`calobs-vis-passband-variations` (built from survey data, if possible) :ref:`calobs-vis-bfe` (validate model) :ref:`calobs-vis-cosmetic-map` (validate model) :ref:`calobs-vis-crosstalk` (validate model) :ref:`calobs-vis-distortion` (validate model) :ref:`calobs-vis-ptc` (validate model) :ref:`calobs-vis-ghostmodel` (validate model) :ref:`calobs-vis-nonlinearity` (validate model) :ref:`calobs-vis-psfcalibration` (validate model) :ref:`calobs-vis-straylight` (validate model) :ref:`char-survey-zodimodel` (validate model) Targets and pointing constraints -------------------------------- :command:`Pointing`: Straylight suppression as per MOCDA-SYS-003.
