.. index:: Early-release observations (ERO) .. _calobs-block-pv-ero: **CALBLOCK-PV-007:** Early-release observations =============================================== .. include:: definitions.rst Observation configuration file ------------------------------ Not applicable Scheduling ---------- Early-release observations (ERO) of several targets, whenever they fit into the PV plan. In case of failure: These observations are target-specific, and the target might have a very limited visibility; in this case it should not be repeated, and the remaining PV plan should not be disturbed. If the target has perennial visibility and has high scientific value, it could be appended at the end of PV phase. Time-critical ------------- No. Dependencies ------------ :ref:`calobs-block-f-selfcal` :ref:`calobs-block-f-visNL-nispLED` Objective --------- Early-release targets show-case Euclid's potential as a survey telescope. The list of potential targets must be safe for Euclid to observe, and should cover a broad range of ecliptic longitudes and latitudes to accomodate launch date uncertainties. Observations ------------ Good image quality is essential, but we don't need weak lensing performance, nor fulfill the CalCD-B requirements. Yet the fluxing of all data should be consistent across the focal planes to make the data scientifically valuable. Only the ROS is permitted as an observing sequence. **VIS Cycling:** The VIS ROS-inline calibrations follow the nominal wide-survey cycling, as described in :ref:`ros-inline-vis-calibrations-and-cadence`.
