CALBLOCK-F-006: Wide Survey

Observation configuration file

Not applicable

Scheduling

Scheduled by EC-SURV.

NISP slew darks, VIS biases, darks, flats, CTI, and short science exposures are taken as part of the ROS and processed when suitable. Other CalProducts are computed / validated / updated on other timescales, or as needed.

In case of failure, skipped and / or replanned by EC-SURV depending on severity.

Time-critical

No.

Dependencies

None.

Objective

The Euclid Wide Survey provides a range of “inline” calibration products as part of the ROS, e.g. VIS flats, biases, darks, CTI and trap pumping, and short science exposures. Different flavors of the ROS are available, cycling through the biases, darks, flats and CTI-related calibrations. Two short science exposures are always executed per ROS. The short science exposures have scientific value, extend the dynamic range, and can be used to validate the VIS nonlinearity and BFE corrections.

During field slews, NISP is taking slew darks. The survey data themselves can be used for a wide range of calibration purposes, from updating and validation of calibration products to trend analysis.

Observations

Execute the wide survey.

VIS Cycling: The VIS ROS-inline calibrations follow the nominal wide-survey cycling, as described in ROS: inline VIS calibrations and cadences.

Fulfilling

The following CalProducts are obtained by dedicated inline calibrations in the ROS:

CALPRODUCT-NI-014: NISP Slew Darks

CALPRODUCT-VS-003: VIS Bias

CALPRODUCT-VS-009: VIS Darks

CALPRODUCT-VS-005: VIS CTI Charge Injection Lines

CALPRODUCT-VS-018: VIS Extended Pixel Edge Response (CTI-EPER)

CALPRODUCT-VS-025: VIS Trap Pumping

CALPRODUCT-VS-014: VIS LED Pixel Response Non-uniformity (PRNU)

CALPRODUCT-VS-020: VIS Blooming threshold

The wide survey data can be used to build, validate and trend a large number of CalProducts. Given sufficient statistical power, some of these models could also be updated:
